Halloween: The Game progression connects levels, challenges, and loadouts. The September 2 official overview explains the systems; it does not publish a complete unlock chart.
Four progression levels
| Track | What earns progress |
|---|---|
| Profile | XP across roles |
| Killer | Playing as Michael |
| Civilian | Progress for each playable Civilian |
| Weapon | Michael’s kills with the relevant weapon |
How to unlock characters and equipment
Increasing progression levels unlocks additional Civilians and equipment. The overview does not give each character’s required level. Check the Civilian roster for edition eligibility; being included in an edition does not establish immediate availability.
Perk Points, cards, and decks
Matches award Perk Points. Spend them to roll for Civilian Perk Cards, then assemble cards into a deck for a Civilian loadout. Higher-cost rolls improve the chance of higher rarity, but published numerical odds are absent.
Why were Perks unequipped in 1.0.1?
A deck can contain no more than two copies of the same Perk. If an existing deck exceeds that limit, the update automatically unequips the extra cards. Check the affected loadout before your next match; the announcement describes unequipping, not deleting cards from your collection.
Do initial Perk rolls need more XP?
Yes. The XP requirement for the first in-match Perk rolls has increased. This is separate from the Perk Points used to obtain cards. The patch gives no exact new thresholds. It also fixes a stuck in-match rolling menu and shortens delays around Perk interactions in the Graveyard.
Are card upgrades permanent?
No. Points can temporarily raise an owned card’s level for a fixed number of matches. The announcement supplies neither exact costs nor durations.
5000 Perk Points for Early Access players
IllFonic is granting 5000 Perk Points to players who logged in during Early Access before 9 AM PST on September 8, 2026. This is a login-based qualification; owning an edition alone is not the stated condition. The points may take additional time to appear.
The reward announcement uses PST. The earlier launch schedule uses PT; the reward cutoff is kept as stated by IllFonic, without assuming those labels identify the same instant. See the official announcement if your login was close to the cutoff.
Challenges and prestige
Passive challenges track automatically; Progressive Challenges require successive objectives. Prestige becomes available at a track’s maximum level. Exact caps and reset effects remain undocumented in this source.
Patch 1.0.1 includes further challenge and achievement-tracking fixes. A specific missing reward still needs to match the issue described in the patch.
For Michael’s separate loadout, see abilities and starting traits. If a challenge is not tracking, check the dated official patch record before assuming its requirements changed.
